Pretty pretty day!

Today the sun is out, Shadow is loving it, chasing it from room to room. Jim got a few shots of the snow before I got up, it looks like it's being held to things with static electricity.

And I couldn't resist a shot of our Willow tree, it's so pretty! (Remind me of that next fall when we are trying to clean up the mess!)
Now back to laundry!

9 am this morning

Morning!
Well, we're no longer under a Winter Storm Warning, we are under a Lake Effect Snow Warning. Till tomorrow morning at 5 am. I will continue to monitor the sock gauge. Last night it fell over,

When I propped it back up, carefully, this is where we are now:

I will keep you posted, as of right now it's just a very light snowfall. And our drive needs cleared again!

7:30, and it's snowing hard again

I wonder what it will look like by morning!

6:30

No picture, there isn't any more snow than there was earlier. It has switched over to almost a freezing rain situation out there. We got part of the drive shoveled, next winter we will have a snowblower. Our neighbor has been great about clearing our drive, but we need to be able to do it ourselves!
It's dark now, so the next picture will be in the morning. :-)

4:30

Here it is at 4:30. It stopped snowing for a bit, and now it's right back at it.

Watch it snow with me!

We are under a winter storm warning. Again. So I thought you would want to watch it snow with me. I put my sock on my sock blocker on the deck this morning at 10:30, shortly after it started snowing.
Then at 12:30 I went out and snapped another picture:

And just now, at 2:30:

It's still coming down pretty good. I'm inside sewing a scrub top for work, and I'll snap another picture at 4:30!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

I had a great day. It was busy at work, and I got flowers.

It was nice. :-) And tonight I went shopping and got a new scrub top for work,

Who doesn't love Winnie the Pooh? That's another great part of my job, I wear scrub tops, and I love the cartoon ones! I work tomorrow and then have a 3 day weekend, I am really hoping to be able to get some knitting done. In between the snowman building competition and whatever else we decide to do!

Another Blizzard

Yesterday we had another blizzard. We stayed in and watched it blow and most of the time we didn't know if it was snowing or blowing.
The cats didn't seem to mind, Gorby has a thing for fresh water.

Justice took over the bed:

Jim tried to keep up with the snow on the walk at least,

But it sure was cold. And it was a losing battle when it looked like this:

all day. The snow was plastering the windows and the doors, here is the outside of our back door:

Today wasn't bad going to work though. They do a great job of clearing the streets up here!

The O 500.

Yes, it was the Outhouse 500 this evening and yes, they actually block off the main street downtown for a block, put snow back ON the street, and race cardboard "outhouses" on skiis down the street. It was cold, but one participant still wore a tshirt. And I saw one man in shorts. I have no idea why. It was 28 degrees actual temp, but the wind chill was anyone's guess. And starting tonight we are under a blizzard warning, which includes the following information:

"A BLIZZARD WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW WITH STRONG WINDS AND POOR VISIBILITIES ARE LIKELY. THIS WILL LEAD TO WHITEOUT CONDITIONS...MAKING TRAVEL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. DO NOT TRAVEL. IF YOU MUST...HAVE A WINTER SURVIVAL KIT WITH YOU. IF YOU GET STRANDED...STAY WITH YOUR VEHICLE."
We are not going anywhere. We are stocked up with food, homemade chicken soup tomorrow followed by a beef stew for dinner with fresh baked bread. And yes, I have ice cream.

Now, for your viewing pleasure, I bring you the O 500. Here are a few of the entries.

This is the Criminal Justice/Fire Science Assocation entry for Lake Superior State University:

That would be my husband laying on the ground in the front.

Yes, it had lights and a siren too. They came in 3rd and had a great time!

The Packer's Quilt

Yes, 2 posts in one night. But I wanted to get a picture of the Packer's quilt up that I finished tonight. It's a throw size, and not for me, but I'm sure the person who is getting it will love it!

As I promised,

here are pictures from this last weekend with Chad & Amber. It was a great time. Lots of hockey, and snowmobiles. But this was priceless:
The crew together again. Saturday after coming home from the snowmobile race, this is what happened. I'm not quite sure who started it, but it ended in hot cocoa.

Yes, a good weekend.

Shame on me!

I can't believe it's been that long since I posted! But here I am. I'm playing catch up, so this post is about our first blizzard since we moved here. It happened just under a week ago. Tuesday people were talking about the storm, so I knew it was going to be bad. Because up here they don't say much about storms coming. So I just knew. I went to the store after work and stocked up on food, and I was set. Wednesday when I woke up, this was my kitchen window:
They actually closed the university, giving my husband a snow day. I kept watching it blow, and then I called my boss. And was told to stay home, that they were telling everyone to stay off the roads. The kicker? It was so bad that the road crews weren't even out clearing roads, because there was no way to get ahead of it. So since we both had a snow day, this was my breakfast:

That was a great bowl of ice cream. Of course I didn't have this till after I got back out of bed at a bit after 9. And then it was off to work on Jim's Lone Star quilt. And it was completed that afternoon:

Now it just needs to go over to the Quilted Moose for quilting. She'll do a great job. She always does. That's why her waiting list is so long! :-) Tomorrow, our visit with Chad & Amber, who made it up in between storms to spend a great weekend with us!
