Not much to see...

The rooms are both primed and ready to be painted, and that will begin tomorrow. In addition to the floor getting installed, new lights, etc, etc. I am hoping by Thursday night we will be sleeping back in our own rooms. Because I am REALLY tired of sleeping in the middle of the living room. It's just not comfortable. We have our bed set up, but it's just not the same. It's too open. And I'm tired of feeling cramped for space. Tomorrow we are under a winter storm watch, a possible 8" of snow between tomorrow afternoon and Tuesday afternoon. It has to end sometime!

We got the fan!!!

We had to drive an hour and a half one way, and cross the Mighty Mac:

http://www.mackinacbridge.org/ If you need, you can have someone drive you across in your car. Alot of people do that I think. The water looked very cold! On the way to Petoskey, we stopped in Alanson, and found this to my delight.

It's called The Dutch Oven Yarn Shop. http://www.dutchoven.com/ The bakery was closed, but the yarn shop was open and it was a great stop along the way. I got yarn to make a cardigan for me, she had tons of samples and I love that, being able to see what I am making.

No work being done today, but this is what it looks like back there.

It's all just drywall and dust right now. But I do have to admit, here is the original flooring,

Yellow linoleum. How pretty. UGH!!!! Pretty soon it will be replaced by beautiful hardwood. And it will last forever.

Big sighs from this end of the world...

but progress is being made in the bedrooms. I don't really like camping in the living room, so hopefully by in a week or so we'll be back in our own space.

Here is what happened yesterday:

That's alot of drywall! But as of tonight it's all put up. I will have to get pics tomorrow, no power to the back rooms right now. But here is the flooring we picked, it's called "gunstock"

And that is our new bedroom set. We got the headboard, my hope chest will be at the foot of the bed. And we got 2 side tables and on the right there, we got that long dresser without the mirror because we are going to mount a flat screen tv up above it. It is going to be WONDERFUL!

Home Sick

I am home yet again today. Going crazy because for the life of me I can't find anything to watch on tv. And so I put on Blair Witch (free from the On Demand cable thing). The contractors are back there working, but they don't seem to think making chicken soup is part of the job. http://www.qualityalaskanfinishes.com/behling.cfm This is Joe's website. He normally works on log homes, maintaining them. We were lucky to get him before his busy season started! I am going to knit for a bit. And take some more ibuprofin.

Whew!

Well, we had a great time with the mystery quilt. Of course our teacher learned from the last mystery quilt class, and she kept the clues on her person, in her bag. No snagging a clue before it was time!
I have to add borders to mine, but some people have theirs done. Like Paige,

Her quilt is really neat! Brenda got her quilt done, minus borders,

It was snowing this morning on the way to the shop by the way. Spring will be here when??? Paige also finished her Magic Tiles quilt, it came out really nice.

I need to go sew now, I like to have the quilts done and ready to go!

Quilting today!

Yes, we have quilting today. :-) I was at the shop Tuesday night, and a couple of the women finished up their Hoochie Mama quilts. Here are pics of those. They are adorable!

I haven't made one yet, and I'm not sure if I'm going to. They are awfully cute though.
Today at the Quilted Moose it is a mystery quilt. Here are my fabrics:

Not sure what it's going to look like, but since it's snowing outside again, I'll take the spring fabric!

Sorry!

I did not realize how long it's been since I posted! I took another quilt class, and those pictures need to be put up, and here this weekend we have another one already, another mystery quilt. I am not able to post pictures at this time, blogger is not cooperating. But the fabrics are pretty, and nice and spring looking. I have to admit, I'm not tired of the snow, but I am tired of walking like a duck so I don't fall on my bum!
Now, back to knitting!

Pretty pretty day!

Today the sun is out, Shadow is loving it, chasing it from room to room. Jim got a few shots of the snow before I got up, it looks like it's being held to things with static electricity.

And I couldn't resist a shot of our Willow tree, it's so pretty! (Remind me of that next fall when we are trying to clean up the mess!)
Now back to laundry!

9 am this morning

Morning!
Well, we're no longer under a Winter Storm Warning, we are under a Lake Effect Snow Warning. Till tomorrow morning at 5 am. I will continue to monitor the sock gauge. Last night it fell over,

When I propped it back up, carefully, this is where we are now:

I will keep you posted, as of right now it's just a very light snowfall. And our drive needs cleared again!

7:30, and it's snowing hard again

I wonder what it will look like by morning!

6:30

No picture, there isn't any more snow than there was earlier. It has switched over to almost a freezing rain situation out there. We got part of the drive shoveled, next winter we will have a snowblower. Our neighbor has been great about clearing our drive, but we need to be able to do it ourselves!
It's dark now, so the next picture will be in the morning. :-)

4:30

Here it is at 4:30. It stopped snowing for a bit, and now it's right back at it.

Watch it snow with me!

We are under a winter storm warning. Again. So I thought you would want to watch it snow with me. I put my sock on my sock blocker on the deck this morning at 10:30, shortly after it started snowing.
Then at 12:30 I went out and snapped another picture:

And just now, at 2:30:

It's still coming down pretty good. I'm inside sewing a scrub top for work, and I'll snap another picture at 4:30!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

I had a great day. It was busy at work, and I got flowers.

It was nice. :-) And tonight I went shopping and got a new scrub top for work,

Who doesn't love Winnie the Pooh? That's another great part of my job, I wear scrub tops, and I love the cartoon ones! I work tomorrow and then have a 3 day weekend, I am really hoping to be able to get some knitting done. In between the snowman building competition and whatever else we decide to do!

Another Blizzard

Yesterday we had another blizzard. We stayed in and watched it blow and most of the time we didn't know if it was snowing or blowing.
The cats didn't seem to mind, Gorby has a thing for fresh water.

Justice took over the bed:

Jim tried to keep up with the snow on the walk at least,

But it sure was cold. And it was a losing battle when it looked like this:

all day. The snow was plastering the windows and the doors, here is the outside of our back door:

Today wasn't bad going to work though. They do a great job of clearing the streets up here!

The O 500.

Yes, it was the Outhouse 500 this evening and yes, they actually block off the main street downtown for a block, put snow back ON the street, and race cardboard "outhouses" on skiis down the street. It was cold, but one participant still wore a tshirt. And I saw one man in shorts. I have no idea why. It was 28 degrees actual temp, but the wind chill was anyone's guess. And starting tonight we are under a blizzard warning, which includes the following information:

"A BLIZZARD WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW WITH STRONG WINDS AND POOR VISIBILITIES ARE LIKELY. THIS WILL LEAD TO WHITEOUT CONDITIONS...MAKING TRAVEL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. DO NOT TRAVEL. IF YOU MUST...HAVE A WINTER SURVIVAL KIT WITH YOU. IF YOU GET STRANDED...STAY WITH YOUR VEHICLE."
We are not going anywhere. We are stocked up with food, homemade chicken soup tomorrow followed by a beef stew for dinner with fresh baked bread. And yes, I have ice cream.

Now, for your viewing pleasure, I bring you the O 500. Here are a few of the entries.

This is the Criminal Justice/Fire Science Assocation entry for Lake Superior State University:

That would be my husband laying on the ground in the front.

Yes, it had lights and a siren too. They came in 3rd and had a great time!
